HALE, HAIL, HAILE

Am searching for information about Margaret (Maggie) HALE, b. 1848 inTennessee. Family stories say that Maggie was part Cherokee. We arenot sure who her parents were. She cannot be positively identified in the 1850 or 1860 Tennesseecensus schedules, when she would have been 2 and 12 years old, respectively. One parental possibility is Reuben Hale, listed inBedford County in 1850, 1860, and 1870; he was born in 1814. He isenumerated with his wife Harriet, born 1818, and several daughters:Mary E. (b. 1844), Margaret M. (b. 1848); Catherine (b. 1850); LucyA. (b. 1852); Susan A, (b. 1854); and Harriet Frances (b. 1856). Maggie married John Arthur WILSON in 1870 in Bedford County and movedto Bell County, Texas, by 1880. If anyone has any connections to theHALES listed above, please contact me. (The name was spelled HAIL onMaggie’s marriage record.) Thanks.

I found no record on them in Bedford Co, soanswered the query and deleted it.Today I found some pages I had copied from Genealogy of the LewisFamily by William Terrell Lewis of Perryville, Winston Co, MS. Thisgives Elizabeth Lewis b 1740, the oldest daughter of Wm. T. Lewis andhis wife Sarah Martin, married John Fielder, had three childrenincluding Nimrod Fielder. Elizabeth died in Williamson Co, TN. Nimrod Fielder married Elizabeth Riggs in Surry Co, NC, the daughterof Adam Riggs. (There is a family history on the Riggs family, believe the author’s name was Fuller). Nimrod and Elizabeth Fielder had 5 children and he died inHuntsville, AL in 1854.

LANE

I received the following information about my query for informationabout a 1825 marriage between Emily Lane and George Rainey. Doesanyone know of the Genealogist John Lane who died around 1970? There are no official marriage records for Bedford Co prior to about1860, due to an 1863 courthouse fire and an earlier tornado. There was a genealogist name John Lane in Bedford Co who died–say1970–I don’t know who has his records, but I know his work wasrespected.
