November 1, 2005, 11:01 am AMOS BALCH applied for revolutionary pension while living in Bedford County, Tennessee. He was born in 1758 in Baltimore County. Maryland. He moved to North Carolina and enlisted in Mechlenburg County in 1779 in Captain Richard Simmon’s company. He was attached to the regular cavalry under General Washington.

He was in the battle of Camden. He died in Bedford County, Tennessee, in 1835. He married Ann Patton. Note: Among his children: James Calvin Balch married Eliza Jane Hazlett and John Balch married Sarah Cook.
