WILLIAMSON

John WILLIAMSON was born 1780/1790 in VA, died 1832 probably in Bedford Co., TN. He married Mary HUNTER (1784-1852), date and place unknown. No marriage record exists in the survey of early TN marriages authored by Byron Sistler. —- Their children, all born in TN, are: — i. Eliza M., b. 1812 — ii. Mary, b. 1817/1818 — iii. Rebecca C., b. 1823/1324 — iv. Robert H., b. 1820 — v. James, b. 1820/1825 — vi. John N., b. 1822 — vii. Samuel King, b. 1824/1825 — viii. Thomas Porter, b. 14 Dec 1826 —- At least four of the children and spouses (Eliza M., Robert H., John N., Samuel King) migrated to Greene Co., MO in the 1850s. Thomas Porter wound up in Polk Co.,, IL. —- Questions: (1) Is anyone working on or recognize this line? (2) Is there a marriage record of John WILLIAMSON and Mary HUNTER in VA or NC?

MARTIN-CRUDUP-TEMPLE

Seeking information on REBECCA MARTIN, who died in 1851/2, perhaps in Wilson Co., but is said to have lived in Bedford Co., TN, prior to that time. She was born REBECCA TEMPLE, and was a daughter of ROBERT TEMPLE, whose widow, ELIZABETH, had her estate probated in Bedford Co., TN, in the late 1830s. REBECCA first married JOHN CRUDUP in N.C., and they came to Wilson County, arriving on May 12, 1804, according to an entry in the Wilson County Court Minutes, [see Fischer & Burns, TENNESSEE TIDBITS, 1778-1914, Vol, II, p. 3] By CRUDUP, she had four sons: ROBERT, ELISHA BATTLE, BENNETT, and JOHN, JR. Her first husband, JOHN CRUDUP, died in 1810 in Wilson Co. And some time afterwards she married a MR. MARTIN and is said to have then moved to Bedford Co., where she supposedly had one son, QUINCY MARTIN. On May 26, 1842, REBECCA MARTIN made her power of attorney to her son, JOHN CRUDUP, “to receive her share of the estate of ROBERT TEMPLE.” [Wilson Co., Probate of Deeds, 1840-1843, p. 248] ROBERT TEMPL
