Henry & Sarah (JOHNSTON/JOHNSON) ROGERS migrated from NC to TN abt. 1800. When Bedford Co was created they were enumerated in Bedford Co in the 1810 census. Other children of Henry & Sarah ROGERS were Sampson Rogers b. abt 1802; Henry Rogers b. abt 1810; Hiram Rogers b. abt 1811; Spyrous J. Rogers b. 1816. This leaves 6 children on whom I have no information. Can anyone help me uncover the information I need to complete the history on my gggg grandparents. MARY MOORE b 8 Oct 1835 Bedford County, TN I am seeking information about the family of my gg grandmother MARY MOORE b 8 Oct 1835 probably in Bedford County, TN and married 9 Oct 1855 James Franklin Fletcher, Jr, son of James Franklin Fletcher, Sr. and Jane Meriwether Sims. I have no information about the identity of the parents of MARY MOORE but believe she had a number of siblings including sister HARRIET ROXANNE MOORE. The children of JAMES FRANKLIN FLETCHER, Jr. and MARY MOORE were: HARRY HOOPER, MARTHA (Mattie) (my great grandmother), ANNIE, JOHN D. and GEORGE F. MARTHA (MATTIE) FLETCHER m 1877 Bedford Co Dr. LORENZO DOW NEWMAN MILLER (graduate of Vanderbilt Medical College) and they had 3 children: EVA MILLER (my grandmother) b 1878, JAMES PERCY b 1880, and ROBERT MARION. MATTIE and James Marion died from the childbirth following which the Moore family took charge of EVA and JAMES PERCY MILLER. Dr. Miller remarried and practiced medicine for many decades in xxx. HARRIET ROXANNE MOORE (Aunt Roxy) took care of my grandmother, EVA MILLER, who as a child attended the Webb School (for Boys) because the Webb family had daughters at that time. The only other information I have is 1) the unsubstantiated notion that the family name of the mother of MARY and HARRIET R. MOORE might have Perry, and 2) that HARRIET ROXANNE MOORE was married to ROBERT SIMS MILLER (half brother of LORENZO DOW NEWMAN MILLER) and then to FLETCHER BUCHANON. Any information you can provide about any Moores of Bedford Co will be much appreciated. R. Palmer Beasley, M.D. 47222,2077 [at] Compuserve [dot] com

I am trying to obtain information on the Phillips family which migrated from Bedford County, TN, to Independence County, AR. I am not sure when exactly they migrated to AR, but they were supposed to have moved with the Ogilvie family (and possibly other families) sometime around the turn of this century. The latest Phillips family member I know of is Joseph G. Phillips, who was born March 23, 1834. He was married to Martha Jane Brown, who was born April 20, 1843. She was the daughter of William B. and Charlotte Wood Brown, another prominent family of Bedford County. We have cemetery records that show the Brown, Wood and Phillips families buried in cemeteries in and around Bedford County, but have no direct ties to the heads of households. Joseph G. Phillips was Confederate soldier in the Tennessee forces during the Civil War. He and Martha Jane Phillips had nine children who were reported to have been born in Bedford County: Robert Ernest, Charlotte Elizabeth, Samuel Thomas, Nancy Ellen, Emma Jane, James Matthew, William Jessie, Mary Etta, and Tennessee F. I am primarily interested in determining Joseph G. Phillips’ line, as well as the lines of William B. Brown and his wife, Charlotte A. Wood Brown. Charlotte A. Wood was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Wood. Any information anyone has on these topics would be most appreciated. I would be happy to share the materials I have on these families. Thank you.

Thank you. Sometime ago I responded to a query in Shelbyville, the individual stated that he had (or had access) to a book of Elliott’s and he himself was related. The book specifically mentioned Elliott’s in Bedford and Coffee counties. I e-mailed that individual and never received a response. The e-mail address went down. Does anyone have information about Elliott research in the greater Shelbyville area.
My Elliott family resided in Coffee, Bedford, Rutherford, and the area for over 100 years (1830 – 1935). Thanks in advance, Michael Elliott, eldog [at] erols [dot] com

I am searching for the father of Leroy Young, listed in the 1850 Tennessee census B-69-516 (Bedford Co.), as a thirty year old farmer married to Roda ? with 4 children named Martha, Sarah, Melvile, and Crusmus (this name turned out to be Erasmus Franklin).I can’t find anything untill the 1870 Wayne County Census, they show up there. The 1850 Census list their ages at 30 for Leroy and 24 for Roda. I would likle to match up their parents if possible. I think the father of Leroy is William Young and his mother may be Sarah Ivy. any infirmation would be appreciated thanks.
