Bessie Young, 101, of Lake City, died Wednesday, May 22, 1996, in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.<\/p>\n

She was the oldest member of Clear Branch Baptist Church and a member of WMU.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Young was born Oct. 26, 1894, in Campbell County. She was retired from Magnet Mills with 37 years of service.<\/p>\n

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Young; daughter, Ruth Walters; son, Buford Seiber; parents, Andrew and Mollie Walker Gross; five brothers and one sister.<\/p>\n

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Jack Moore, Lake City; son, Charles Young, Lake City; granddaughters, Carol Rose and husband Harold of Clinton, Janice Gray of Lake City, Lois Adkins and husband John of Lake City; great-grandchildren, Kevin Rose, Katrina Tosh, Taunya Gray, Derrick Gray, Arnie Adkins and Tim Adkins; great-great-grandchildren, Amberly Adkins, Will Rose; brother, Dewey Gross and wife Mildred of Johnson City; sister-in-law, Sadie Gross of Pfafftown, NC.<\/p>\n

The family received friends 6-8 pm Saturday, May 25, in Cox Funeral Home. Funeral service followed at 8 pm in Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George DeLozier officiating.<\/p>\n

Interment is 2 pm today (Sunday) in Leach Cemetery, Lake City.<\/p>\n
