Slover, 1938:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Clinton Man Drops Dead On shore of Norris Lake Saturday while fishing<\/strong>.\u00a0 Charles R. Slover, 67, of Clinton, dropped dead on the shore of Norris Lake early Saturday morning while fishing with his son, Whitman. Death was caused by a heart attack.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Slover\u00a0was a distant relative of Col. S. L. Slover, Norfolk publisher, who presented the courthouse clock and chimes to the town and county.<\/p>\n<p>For months, Mr. Slover\u00a0had gone to Norris Lake daily and at the time of his death it was understood that he was searching for grasshoppers for bait.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving: Two sons, Whitman and Roscoe; one daughter, Mrs Ruby Clough; one brother, Luke Slover of Knoxville,one sister, Mrs. Samuel Maples, of Knoxville, and three grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services were held Monday at the home at 2pm. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Pallbearers were Hustus\u00a0Austus, Bob Hutton, Sam Hendrickson, Floyd Hutchison, Charles Cantrell and Harry Pierce.<\/p>\n<p>Holley Funeral Home was in charge.<\/p>\n<p><em>Clinton Courier News, <\/em>3 Feb 1938<\/p>\n<p>[Courtesy of Brenda Foster]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Obituary of Charles R.
