Retired Y-12 machine cleaner<\/p>\n
Auther (Ray) Mitchell, 50, of 121 Richards Dr., Oliver Springs, died Tuesday morning at his home, as the result of a massive heart attack.<\/p>\n
Mr. Mitchell retired on Oct. 1 of this year as a machine cleaner in the fabrication division of the Y-12 Plant, where he had been employed since March 21, 1954.<\/p>\n
He was a member of Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. He enjoyed doing mechanical work on cars and trucks, vegetable gardening and hunting.<\/p>\n
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Emma Jean Burton Mitchell; three daughters, Jeannie Carroll of West Outer Drive, Connie Jean Mitchell of 105 Edinboro La., who is employed at K mart in Oak Ridge, and Diane Mitchell of the home; two sons, Danny Ray Mitchell of Coalfield and Billy Joe Mitchell of Oliver Springs; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Robbins, Mrs. Ruth Lawson, both of Oliver Springs, and Mrs. Bethelene Wynn of Danville, Ill.; four brothers, Hugh Mitchell, also of Danville, Roscoe Mitchell of Catlin, Ill., Pettibone Mitchell and Oscar Mitchell, both of Oliver Springs; and six grandchildren.<\/p>\n
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Beech Park Baptist Church of Oliver Springs, with the Rev. Howard Hannah officiating. Burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery on Route 5, Clinton.<\/p>\n
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Sharp Funeral Home of Oliver Springs.<\/p>\n
