H. GARNER to Granvil\u00a0ARNOLD &#8211; Bill of Sale of slaves, 1857:<\/h2>\n<p>We have this day sold and do hereby convey to Granvil\u00a0Arnold his heirs and assigns forever for the consideration of fourteen hundred and fifty dollars to us in hand paid a boy slave named Newton aged about ten years also one other boy named Juber\u00a0we warrant the title to said slaves to the said Granvil\u00a0Arnold his heirs and assigns against the lawful claim of all persons and we also warrant them to be sound, healthy, sensable and slaves for life this 11<sup>th<\/sup> day of February 1857.\u00a0 H. Garner {Seal} P. H. Garner {Seal}, executors of John Garner deceased.\u00a0 Attest. James Cox, J. N. Hendrix.<\/p>\n<p>State of Tennessee Anderson County}\u00a0 Personally appeared before me, R. H. Coward Clerk of the County Court of said county and state P. H. Garner and Hugh Garner the within named bargainers to the foregoing bills of sale with whom I am personally acquainted and acknowledged that they executed the within bills of sale for the purposes therein contained.\u00a0 Given under my hand at office in Clinton this 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0day of April 1857.\u00a0 R.
