Author and ex-teacher dies at 87<\/strong>.\u00a0 Mrs. Beulah Brummett Braden, 87, of Athens, Ga., died Saturday afternoon at Heritage Center Nursing Home there, where she had been a patient for three years.<\/p>\n She was the author of When Grandma Was a Girl<\/em>, a book about early life in Anderson County published as a Bicentennial project in 1976 by the Clinton Courier-News<\/em> and The Oak Ridger<\/em>.<\/p>\n Mrs. Braden was once a teacher at Shinliver\u00a0and Andersonville Elementary Schools.\u00a0 She lived in Knoxville for many years and was a resident of Westmall Nursing Home in Oak Ridge until it was closed in 1977.<\/p>\n She was a member of Longfield Baptist Church of Lake City and the Daughters of the American Revolution.\u00a0 Mrs. Braden enjoyed genealogy, sewing and quilt making.<\/p>\n A native of the Lake City area, she was the daughter of the late John and Lurana\u00a0Duncan Brummett.\u00a0 She attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.<\/p>\n Her husband, Wiley F. Braden, died in 1924.<\/p>\n Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J. Aubrey\u00a0 (Rosslyn) Smith of Athens and Mrs. Owen (Billie) Killeen of Oak Ridge; and a grandson, Patrick Killeen of Martin.<\/p>\n Funeral services were held Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home chapel in Knoxville with Dr. Kenneth Hubbard officiating.\u00a0 Burial was in Mt.
