{"id":2118,"date":"2011-09-15T10:29:39","date_gmt":"2011-09-15T05:29:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tngenweb.org\/anderson\/?p=2118"},"modified":"2017-06-09T16:31:20","modified_gmt":"2017-06-09T21:31:20","slug":"obituary-adkins-willard-clyde1993","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/andersoncounty\/2011\/09\/obituary-adkins-willard-clyde1993\/","title":{"rendered":"Obituary &#8211; Adkins, Willard Clyde,1993"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Obituary of Willard Clyde Adkins, 1993:<\/h2>\n<p>Willard Clyde Adkins Sr., 76, of 126 Midway Drive, Oliver Springs, died Thursday at his home after a lengthy illness.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Donna Goins Adkins; a brother, John Adkins; and two sisters, Myrtle Blythe and Carrie Blankenship. He was born April 19, 1917, in Williamsburg, Ky.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Adkins was a coal miner and had worked in the mines before retirement for 43 years. He was a member of the UMWA\u00a0Local 1569 of Middlesboro, Ky. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and gospel music and was known for helping others at any time.<\/p>\n<p>He had lived in Oliver Springs for 33 years.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include his wife, Mable Henderson Adkins; six children, John C. Adkins of Williamsburg, Ky.; Willard C. Adkins Jr. and wife, Charlene of Coalfield; James E. Adkins and wife Rose Mary of Delaware; Bill H. Adkins and wife Carol of Oak Ridge; Harold D. Adkins and wife Sandra of Clinton; George R. Adkins and wife Linda of Oliver Springs; a foster son, Gentry D. Hunt and wife Ruby of Oliver Springs; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Services were held Friday in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Garvin Walls and the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating.
