Obituary of Eva Smiddy Brown, 1976:
Ex-employee of school dies at 70. A former cafeteria worker at Briceville Elementary School, Mrs. Eva Smiddy Brown, 70, Briceville, died Thursday of heart failure at Lake City Hospital.
Mrs. Brown worked in the school for 10 years prior to an earlier heart attack.
She was a member of the Laurel Branch Baptist Church and enjoyed working as a member of the Home Demonstration Club, particularly in the areas of needle work and ceramics.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie C. Brown; two sons, Ray Brown, Briceville and Buford Brown, Augusta, Ga; three daughters Mrs. Helen McMahan and Mrs. Violet Williams, both of Briceville, Mrs. Irene Jones of Lake City; 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Laurel Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Edwin Phillips, the Rev. Moss Beets and the Rev. Albert Seiber officiating. Burial was in Circle Cemetery.
Martin Funeral Home of Lake City was in charge.
