STEPHEN MICHAEL ARMSTRONG – 38, of Oak Ridge, died at the Methodist Medical Center on Friday, August 13, 1999. Self-employed AAA Hydraulics. Member of Christian Outreach where he served as a church elder, choir member, minister and was the men’s ministry director. A graduate of Clinton High School in 1978. Enjoyed and played golf and basketball. Stephen played basketball for Clinton High School 1975-78 and for Roane State. Attended Roane State and the University of Tennessee. Survivors include wife, Penny Ely Armstrong, Oak Ridge; son, Christian Hunter Armstrong of the home; parents, Bob and Eunice Armstrong, Clinton; sisters, Sheila Bailey and husband, Tim and their children, Tim and Lisa of Garrett, Ky., Patricia Shoemaker and husband, Wesley and their children Matthew, Samantha and Andrew of Clinton. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 15, 1999, 8 p.m. in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Archer Corder and Rev. Greg Howard officiating. Graveside service will be on Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Penny Armstrong, c/o Sharon Bender, 334 Willow Run Dr., Clinton, TN 37716. The family will receive friends Sunday night at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
