Bessie Young, 101, of Lake City, died Wednesday, May 22, 1996, in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was the oldest member of Clear Branch Baptist Church and a member of WMU.
Mrs. Young was born Oct. 26, 1894, in Campbell County. She was retired from Magnet Mills with 37 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Young; daughter, Ruth Walters; son, Buford Seiber; parents, Andrew and Mollie Walker Gross; five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Jack Moore, Lake City; son, Charles Young, Lake City; granddaughters, Carol Rose and husband Harold of Clinton, Janice Gray of Lake City, Lois Adkins and husband John of Lake City; great-grandchildren, Kevin Rose, Katrina Tosh, Taunya Gray, Derrick Gray, Arnie Adkins and Tim Adkins; great-great-grandchildren, Amberly Adkins, Will Rose; brother, Dewey Gross and wife Mildred of Johnson City; sister-in-law, Sadie Gross of Pfafftown, NC.
The family received friends 6-8 pm Saturday, May 25, in Cox Funeral Home. Funeral service followed at 8 pm in Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George DeLozier officiating.
Interment is 2 pm today (Sunday) in Leach Cemetery, Lake City.
