Mr. Clyde Carden, age 92, of Clinton, formerly of Lake City, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000 at NHC Health Care Center in Oak Ridge.
He was born Dec. 23, 1907 in Anderson County.
Clyde was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. He retired after 34 years of service at magnet Mills in Clinton then worked for Rentenbach in Knoxville and also for the State Park Service. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved fishing and enjoyed being around people.
Clyde is preceded in death by: wife, Gertrude Massengill Carden in 1977; parents, Robert and Lula Carden; grandson, Terry Henderson; brother, Charlie Carden; sister, Eva Burly.
Survivors: daughters and son-in-laws, Dorothy and Victor Henderson of Sautee, GA, Louise and Larry Egner of Clinton, Betty and Bill Taylor of Knoxville and Lula Pulliam of Knoxville; grandchildren, Tim Henderson, Tami Burnett, Cindy Koelsch, Zina Rutherford, Darryl and Bruce Cate, Pam Tucker; special granddaughter, Alfonsina Rodriguez; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Alta Hall of Franklin, OH.
Visitation was 6-9 pm Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 at Cox-martin Funeral Home. Funeral service was 11 am Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at Clear Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hanes and the Rev. Rick Teague officiating. The body will lie in state on hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will follow the funeral service at Leach Cemetery, Lake City.
