Obituary – Hence Mitchell Jr.
Hence Mitchell Sr., 52, of Huber Heights, Ohio, died Friday, June 30, 1995, in Huber Heights after an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Mitchell was a former resident of Oliver Springs and was known in the area for his outstanding football ability. He was named Best Defensive Lineman for the Oliver Springs Bobcats Class of 1961.
He was employed with the Chrysler Corporation in Dayton, Ohio, as a coordinator. He coached softball teams for many of the 27 years he lived in Dayton. According to the family, Mr. Mitchell was a devoted family man who always made time to be with his daughters.
He was the son of Hence and Louella Mitchell of Oliver Springs.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Coney Lynn Carter Mitchell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Ted Kendrick and Liesha and Raph Richardson, all of Vandalia, Ohio, and Paige and Todd Moore of Wilmington, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Brittany and Jeremmy Kendrick, Allen, Brandon and Erica Richardson, and Adam and Caci Moore.
He is also survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Archie Tucker, Brenda and Steve Jones and Debbie and Mack Green, all of Oliver Springs; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Robin Mitchell of Mansfield, Texas, and Steve and Liz of Kinston and Gary Mitchell of Oliver Springs; his mother-in-law, Linda Carter of Oak Ridge; two brothers-in-law, Richard Carter and his family of Kingston, and Kevin Carter and his family of Knoxville; and by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 8 tonight, July 3, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Hildon Lively officiating. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, at East Fork Cemetery in Oak Ridge. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 tonight at the mortuary.
