John McAdoo, Jr. was born February 6, 1757 in VA, son of John McAdoo, Sr. and his wife Ann.  He married Martha Grills on September 4, 1787 in Washington County, TN (which was part of NC at that time).  Martha Grills McAdoo was born November 27, 1758 and died January 8, 1838.  During the American Revolution, John McAdoo, Jr. lived in the Wautauga settlement, moving later to the Big Valley of Anderson County, TN and owning 152 acres.  He died December 26, 1830 and is buried in the McAdoo Cemetery near Sinking Springs United Methodist Church, 5 miles north of Clinton, Anderson County, TN.
John McAdoo, Jr. fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain under John Sevier.

John McAdoo, III, born June 21, 1790, married Mary Ann Gibbs.
Myra McAdoo, born November 24, 17792, married Aaron Finch.
