Obituary of John L. Roach, 1974:
Ex-Magnet Mills worker Roach dies. Former Magnet Mills, Inc., employee John L. Roach, 79, died after a year long illness Friday in Oak Ridge Hospital. He was dead on arrival at 8:40 p.m.
Roach resided in the Blowing Springs Community, Clinton Rt. 3. He was a native of Jefferson County.
Roach retired from his job at Magnet Mills where he did maintenance work.
He belonged to Clinton Church of God. Roach enjoyed working in his garden.
Survivors are three sons, Arlie and Harold Roach both of Clinton Rt. 2, Earl Roach of Caryville; two daughters, Mrs. Tressie (Elmer) Rhea and Mrs. Lena Kate (John) Kidwell, both of Clinton Rt. 2; one step-daughter, Mrs. Jessie (Fred) Rains of Caryville; one sister, Mrs. Odie Morgan of Clinton.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Clinton Church of God. Officiating ministers were the Rev. Charles Harness, the Rev. Lunas Keck and the Rev. Virgil Shears. Burial was in Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.
