Obituary of Adah Daugherty Patterson, 1974:
Mother of nine dies Saturday. Mrs. Adah Daugherty Patterson, 85, longtime Lake City area resident and wife of the late Guy Patterson, died Saturday in Park West Hospital in Knoxville.
Mrs. Patterson had most recently lived with her daughter, Mrs. Oma Goad in Briceville. She had been in ill health for some time and had lost sight in both eyes.
Her husband, a disabled coal miner, died four years ago. Mrs. Patterson was a member of Lake City Church of God. In her younger years, she enjoyed piecing quilts. She was a native of Kentucky.
Besides her Briceville daughter, she leaves five other daughters, Mrs. Mazzie Seiber of Oliver Springs, Mrs. Laura Powers of Lake City and Mrs. Cora Bunch of LaFollette, Mrs. Italy Gibson of Cincinnati, Mrs. Catherine Jacks of South Clinton; three sons, Ramsey, Homer and Willard Daugherty, all of Westland, Mich.; 48 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Benton Daugherty of LaFollette and Sheridon Daugherty of Petros.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lake City Church of God. The Rev. V. H. Shears and the Rev. Donnie Douglas officiated. Burial was in New Cemetery, Petros.
