Obituary of Arthur O. Mitchell
Former Y-12 guard
Arthur O. Mitchell, 64, Laurel Road Community, Route 3, Clinton, died early Sunday morning in Baptist Hospital where he had been a patient for the past month. Mr. Mitchell, a former guard at the Y-12 plant, suffered with cancer and had been ill for the past 15 years.
Mr. Mitchell first went to work at Y-12 as a guard in 1942 and took a medical retirement in 1970. He was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed carving all types of wood figures which he gave to his friends.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lynn Dagley of Chattanooga, and Phyllis and Gail Mitchell at home; three sons, Ronnie, Jerry and Vestal Mitchell, all of Clinton; mother, Mrs. Lawyouna Mitchell, Clinton; a sister, Mrs. Marie Thacker, Clinton; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Black Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. (rest of obituary not on paper)
