Obituary of Emma Bessie Rider Mabry, 1974:
Mrs. Mabry, Lake City woman, dies. Mrs. Emma Bessie Rider Mabry, 80, wife of Jesse E. Mabry of Lake City Rt. 2, died of heart failure early Sunday morning. She was dead on arrival at Lake City Hospital.
She had been in ill health for a number of years. Mrs. Mabry and her husband had lived in the Lake City area in 1970 and returned in 1972. She was a native of Fort Scott, Kan.
She worked years ago in a canning factory in Toledo, O. Her husband, now retired, worked for 37 years with Railway Express in Ohio. The Mabrys were married 50 years.
Mrs. Mabry’s first husband was John Parsons, who died many years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves one son, Earl Parsons of Flint, Mich.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Jo Ann Biddle of Toledo, Kenneth Parsons of Briceville and James Parsons of Detroit.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. W. H. Beets and the Rev. Albert Seiber officiating. Burial was in Norris Memorial gardens.
