Obituary of Leon Amos, 1994:
Leon Amos, 83, of Lake City, died Sunday in his home.
Born Feb. 2, 1911, in Campbell County, he was the son of Henry B. and Anna Craig Amos. Mr. Amos was a member of Lake City Church of Christ and was a coal miner for several years. He and his brother owned and operated Amos Texaco in leak City. Mr. Amos enjoyed making cedar picture frames.
Mr. Amos was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Sandra E. Amos and Marjorie Rutherford; brothers, Randall Amos, Clayton Amos, Harold Amos and Sid Amos.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alma Towe Amos of Lake City; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Arnold Leon “Buddy” and Elaine Amos of Chula Vista, CA; and Jerry Amos, Billy Amos and Darrell and Jackie Amos, all of Lake City; two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Jack Stevens of Harriman, Lorene and Cecil Day of Beaver Creek, OH; 17 grandchildren; brother, Arnold Amos of Caryville; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wilma Johnson of Oak Ridge, Mildred and Ben Dabney of Sandusky, OH, and Jean and Carl Beach of Clearwater, FL.
Funeral service was Tuesday in Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Mefford officiating. Burial was 11 am Wednesday in Beech Grove Cemetery.
