PENTECOST, Richard Henry, contractor; born Charlotte Co., Va., Oct. 29, 1855; English descent; son of Richard J. and Mary Jane (DAVISON) PENTECOST; educated in local schools of Campbell and Pittsylvania Counties, Va.; in early life was connected with a railroad in maintenance department; prior to 1881 he was a planter in Va.; continued in railroad service as roadmaster with N. C. & St. L. R. R.; engaged in quarrying stone and gravel for building purposes in Decatur Co., Tenn., after leaving railroad service; at present he is contractor and dealer in building materials; married Mary Jane E. COLLINS, Feb. 6, 1879; member of Masons (Blue Lodge), W. O. W., and Business Men’s Club; Democrat; Christian Scientist.
