Elijah Kincheloe Hunt (Nov 8, 1842-Dec 15, 1919) was the owner of a parcel of land at the end of what is known today as Paul Bacon Road in the Harmony Community. He and his wife, Nancy Ann DeVault Hunt (Feb 27, 1840-Feb 18, 1922) are buried at the Bacon-Kincheloe Cemetery (aka Harmony-Bacon) just west of the Harmony Community.

GPS Location:  +36 23.470N and -82 33.620W.

LOCATION
It is located on a large farm parcel owned by Tommy A. and Dorothy Hale and would be reached at the end of Paul Bacon Road. The Hunt (and later, Bacon) homeplace is still standing, although in severe disrepair.

DEEDS
In 1914, Enos Hunt, son of Elijah K. Hunt became owner (Deed Book 119, Page 418). In 1938, Enos’ son, Bruce, conveyed the property to his cousin, Paul Bacon (Deed Book 202, Page 367). Paul and his wife, Edna, owned the property until 1974 – at which time it was sold to Vance and Barbara Hale, parents of the current owner.

BURIALS
There are no records of who may be buried at this site.

Mr Bennett’s topographic map notes designate this location as the “Bacon” burial ground. During the time of Mr Bennett’s work, the property was owned by Paul Bacon. The present owner, Mr. Tommy Hale, provided detailed information about the Lige Hunt homeplace, including a photo with named individuals in the photo. He was well aware of the burial ground location, just east of the homeplace. It is most certainly one location, known first as the Lige Hunt burial ground, then subsequently as the Bacon burial ground.
