Joseph Henry Edwards Family
Joseph Henry (1885-1928), son of Levi (1858-1924), Church of the Brethren Minister, and Rebecca Shupe Edwards (1866-1926), married 1906 Marietta (188-192) daughter of James Madison (1866-1941) and Anna Bailey Byrd (1868-1945). They moved from Pigeon Roost, North Carolina bringing 7 of their 8 children: Henry Lee, Lulia (1909-1910), Cleo, Arlie, Josephine, Ova, Susie and Levi Chandler. They moved to Telford 1929, (Washington County) with 2 more children: Elizabeth Rebecca and Annie Kathleen.
Marietta, widowed at 40 with 9 children to rear, supported herself and family by farming.
Joseph and Marietta were buried at the Edwards Cemetery, Johnson City.
Henry married Lorena Edwards Story. Cleo married Cecil Shanks. Arlie (1912-1929). Josephine married Park Jenkins. Ova married Leola Virginia Scott. Susie married Aaron Culbertson, Jr. Levi (1923) married Kathaleen Morris. Elizabeth (1925) married Wiley Greene. Annie (1927) married Bill Smith.
