Looking for info about Andrew Holmes PAYNE, who "came out of the Cherokee Hills about 1878" m. Jane Lane in Warren Co. His father was Andrew Payne, no name given for mother. Their daughter was named Sena, which might provide a clue. We have no birth records to date,and no other info. but his granddaughter is searching. Jane was daughter to Richard B. Looking for ancesters of Samuel Williamson CARTER, born January 23, 1854, son of Charles Lambert CARTER born May 11, 1832 in McMinnville, Tennessee. They were the grandson and son respectivley of Williamson CARTER and Anna P. SULLIVAN who were born about December 12, 1810 and April 18, 1812.

STRICKLIN, STRICKLAND

Seeking father of John Taylor Strickland, Docton Strickland. John was b in DeKalb co, Tn. Docton can be found on the 1830 Warren co., Tn census and then on the 1850 DeKalb census his wife Millie and children are living without Docton. Docton Strickland was born in Tn. BAKER

Looking for any information about the two listed above who were brothers with Thomas Jefferson Baker being born in 1838. Any information about their parents would be appreciated and we may be off and perhaps should be searching in McMinn County. Supposedly T.J. Baker also served in either the 9th or 10th Tennessee Cavalry during the Civil War. He was my great grandfather and is buried in Oklahoma. CLENDENEN

Need the maiden name and heritage of SARAH, wife of JAMES CLENDENEN (1775-1841), who was born circa 1776 and died circa 1861. One known daughter was ELIZABETH (1810-1893) who married RICHARD NEWTON CARTWRIGHT (1801-1871). Richard and Elizabeth are buried at Shiloh Cemetery where are James and Sarah buried? CARTWRIGHT

Help! I am trying to find the first wife of JOSHUA CARTWRIGHT (born circa 1775 in VA?, is known to have been in TN by 1805, appeared on the 1820 Warren Co census and died there in 1840). One son was RICHARD NEWTON (1801-1871). Who was his mother? Joshua married an Elizabeth as wife #2 who can not be Richard Newton's mother who appears to have died circa 1825. Family lore says the missing wife/mother could have been a NEWTON. Is this true? I would appreciate any assistance as I am stuck on this line.

I am trying to get more information on my Great-Great Grandmother and Grandfather. I believe the original spelling of my G.G. Grandfather's surname was CREELEY(first name William). My G.G.Grandmother's maiden name islisted as WILMETTA. Their 1st child was Francis Marion CREELEY, born 1831 and married Tempy Dodson on January 18, 1855 in Warren County Tennesee. EUREKA! I have found Bettie RIGSBY,who m Timothy Dillard TITTLE 1881 Warren Co. Her full name was Margaret Elizabeth RIGSBY & she was b 8 Apr 1866 and d 5 May 1928 Lawrence Co. Her parents were Samuel and Delilah "Puss" LEWIS RIGSBY. I've expanded this line but would appreciate any info. Through my previous query I recieved info that Lorenzo Dow TITTLE's wife Nancy J. was a GOFF. This would make her the dau of William B. & Phoebe WALLING GOFF & Lorenzo's 1st cousin. Does anyone have further info on this GOFF line? They were in Bledsoe Co. previous to Warren Co. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Endymun(?)LANE and Jane? were family #834 in 1850 Warren Census. CH. Richard B.,James M.,Joseph, Endymun, Hardin S.(killed in Battle of Murfreesboro),Charles P., Amanda, & Mary J(ane)--Richard's daughter.TN was given a birthplace of all. Richard is our line. He, Joseph, and Hardin m. Holtman sisters--Roselinda, Adaline and Emaline (twins) from White Co. Question:we know nothing about Endymun. Could his father have been Richard listed in 1820 Census? Did he have a brother who was father to David (#115,1850 census)? David was 2 yrs. older than Richard, and his own son was named Endymun. Was Endymun's wife, Jane, named Brook? We have listed over 700 names with kith and kin but have not been able to go back past Endymun. Any suggestions appreciated.

KIRBY

I am looking for a ROBERT W. KIRBY (b. December 13, 1785 in Virginia and died September 12, 1841 in Benton County Missouri). He moved to Warren County, Tennessee sometime before 1811 where he married a LUCINDA STOCKSTILL (b.12/13/1796, d.4/17/1886) on February 7, 1811. On January 28, 1815, he enlisted in the War of 1812, serving in Warren Co. as a private in Russel's Separate Battalion Mounted Gunmen in Captian Chison's Company of Tennessee Militia. He served until March March 27, 1815 when he was honorably discharged. He lived in Warren Co. until the fall of 1838 when he moved to Perry Co. Illinois. I would like to find out more information about Robert, his family, parents (their name, where they lived and where they came from). Any information would be greatly appreciated.

MATNEY

Hi, Ima searching for my grandfather Clifford MATNEY, his son DELBERT MATNEY and Clifford brother Roscoe MATNEY. They left Indiana in 1923, and went to McMinnville Tenn. Clifford drove a logging truck. Then we were told he had to go to court for something about his logging. Any information you could find would be greatly appreciated.

I have located a Jacob PAUF in Warren County in the 1830 Census but none in prior years. I am speculating that since Coffee County was formed from part of Warren that this could be the gggg Grandfather I am looking for. GRIBBLE, HILLIS
