Thomas Jefferson Henegar, son of George Washington Henegar and his wife Martha Elizabeth Freeman, lived in southwest Warren County, just west of Grange Hall Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Smoot, daughter of William Smoot and Matilda Anderson, was born in Warren County. She married Thomas J. Henegar. At the birth of their ninth child, Mary became deathly ill. She died because of uncontrollable hemorrhaging.

Mary’s cousin, Susan Sophia Smoot, daughter of Daniel Smoot and his wife Ann Porter Shaw, came from her Lynchburg Tennessee home to help Thomas J. Henegar with the children.

Susie, as Susan was know, married Thomas. They had seven children. Susie died 5 February 1943 in Warren County. Susie’s obituary appeared in the 12 February 1943 Southern Standard newspaper, McMinnville, Tennessee.
