James F. Allison, Retired Farmer, Buried Monday

Funeral services for James Finis Allison, 93-year-old pioneer citizen and retired farmer, were conducted Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Rev. William H. Moss, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiated and burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery.  Mr. Allison died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs.  H. A. King, on Seitz street Sunday morning at 5:50 o’clock. He had been ill some two or three months. A native of Warren county, the deceased was born February 20, 1856. He was a son of James Allison and Caroline Thaxton Allison and was married to the former Miss Esther Miller, who preceded him in death several years ago. Mr. Allison was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  A pioneer citizen of the county, Mr. Allison was a grandson of John Thaxton, early settler of Warren county and a Revolutionary War soldier who located at Mt. Zion about 1810. The deceased is survived by one son, Hervy J. Allison of McMinnville and a granddaughter.  Another son, Poindexter Allison, died several months ago.
