Seeking information on Ernest Hampton BYRD, August 19, 1876 - May 16, 1930. I believe he was born in Van Buren County and is buried at McElroy Cemetery.  He was my grandfather whom I never knew.  I believe he was sheriff for a while in this county. HASTING, HASTINGS

Looking for information on families of HASTING who were living in the3rd Civil District of Van Buren County at the time of the 1870census, but don't appear in the 1880 census. Seeking names of mygreat grandparents. They were the parents of Maggie Hastings, b.1880, in McMinnville, d. 1909, twin boys William Clinton (mygrandfather) and Wilburn H. Hastings, b. 15 Jan. 1887, probably inWarren County, maybe White Co. The father was killed in a coal minein 1896 at age 44 and the mother died in 1898 at age 40. Probablyburied somewhere in Warren or White County. Children were moved toMurfreesboro and grew up there. Maggie and William lived and diedthere, Wilburn in Nashville. The 1870 census shows a W. C. Hastingand others living in close proximity to each other and near Shocklyfamilies who had children with given names of Clinton and Hasting.May have been some marriage relations between these families; somecould be my grandfather's pparents. Any assistance or suggestions willbe appreciated.

HASTON, HASTAIN

I'd like to know if Joseph C. HASTON , changed the spelling of hislast name to HASTAIN and moved to California in 1878. He registeredin Lake County, Calif. on 9/2/1878 and they listed that he was afarmer from Tennessee. I know there are a lot of HASTON familiesthere, but he is the link between the 2 spellings (is my suspicion).I have info. that he was married to an Emily J. HASTAIN (daughter ofIsaac HASTAIN and Agnes Simpson HASTAIN of Nashville, TN).Conflictingrecords say he may have been married to a Martha DENNY. HENRY: LIGARD, WILLIAM, JOHN AND JASPER

With a lot of help from web friends, I have located my grandfather,John S. HENRY, his brother, Jasper and their father, William on the1880 Census of Putnam County. The name I was given for William'sfather is Ligard HENRY, who married Nancy THOMAS. His son William b.1850, married Frances WATSON b. 1844. From family stories, I knowthey lived in several counties of East-Middle Tennessee. I wouldappreciate any information on any of these names.

HENRY, MARTIN

HENRY: Jasper and John. John HENRY was my grandfather. I knowlittle about his family. He married Florence MARTIN, in White Countyin the 1880's. They moved to Nashville in the early 1900's and livedon Main Street, where my grandmother ran a tourist home. Iunderstand his brother Jasper HENRY lived in Putnam County. I am looking for information on my mothers family - MILLS. Mygrandfather, William Joe-Dennie MILLS, 1901-1969. Married 1919 toLena KEYT, 1900-1977. His father, William Riley MILLS, married VinaHASTON. They had eight children - William Joe-Dennie, Lane, Woodrow,John Sam, Edna, Emma Lou, Ivory, Mary Ruth. William Riley MILLS wasthe son of Samuel MILLS and Mary MEASLES. William had four brothersand five sisters - Dottie, Robert, Else, Samuel, Evaline, Aliza,Maggie, Ollie, and Daisy. My grandmother, Lena KEYT Mills was thedaughter of William KEYT and Rachel SIMMONS. Rachel died around1910. Rachel SIMMONS was the daughter of George and KatherineSIMMONS.
