White Fruit Cake

(M. Miratti)

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

4 cups flour

1 cup sour milk with 1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. vanilla

juice of 1 orange

1 glass whiskey

1 glass brandy

2# almonds

2 pkg. stoned dates

1/2# citron

3 boxes white raisins

3 boxes candied cherries

Cream shortening. Add sugar. Add 1 egg at a time and beat well. Add orange juice, add vanilla and liquor. Add milk and soda. Add flour to fruit and shortening and sugar mixture. 
Bake in loaf pans 3 1/2 - 4 hours at 225. Makes 4-5 loaf cakes.

* Virginia's and Lynda's wedding cakes - is great! Soak in brandy after making.
