Spurrier Howard-Smith From: Marion (Howard-Smith) Alexander ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [missing page] of ladies & gentlemen. Margaret too, in her way is a constant & help, so you see how I have reason to like girls in a household. My boys seem to me to grow livelier & more restless every day, but so long as they are not mean one must stand the racket & fuss. Well, I am up & about my room once more. Dr. Jacobi has done all sorts of things to & for me. I feel quite like another person in the making over time, & do feel great hope of living better & stronger than I have in years, & of gradually getting over my headaches. Indeed as middle age settles over me I have a chance of being better than I have been since girlhood. Enough about myself. I hope Lida is keeping up that good behaviour you mentioned some time ago, & is quite well & strong now. I should have enjoyed being with you the evening you entertained the Whist club. (think you said it was a Whist club) I have almost forgotten how to play Whist, though I once did fair to make a decent partner. I like the game more than any I know. Eben has just come up stairs & says "Marie who are you writing to'? "Sperry". "I've just been doing that myself." So you are well supplied with Alexander news. The hustle for the Olympic games is already beginning.... I cannot realize that lent is nearly over & the much talked of games near at hand. Among other people Alexander, King of Servia, is coming. It is said he is to marry the princess Marie. I do not know how true that may be. My back aches & I must stop & rest. With much much love for Lida & the children I am always your same old sister. M.
