My dearest Sperry,
    Ellie is plotting another visit to you and dear Lida this morning-and I
want her to take the message to you fresh, though long felt and often feebly
expressed, of my deep and loving and grateful sense of your kindness to our
poor Thetie-and in him to us.  Very patient you have been with him-very
generous in your steady self-denying help to him very wise in your admirable
advice to him.
    To help any one effectually costs self-sacrifice in the helper, and I
recognize with most tender and grateful appreciation how much you and dear
Lida are foregoing to relieve the great need of our poor dear son.-

    You both made our visit to you such a sweet one.
