Miss Pearl Sanders,
Conyersville, Tenn
My Dearest Friend,

Words are inadequate to express my disappointment on awaking this morning to find it raining.
Henry was the only teacher here today that I saw from the country.
The Nation now morns the death of her Chief Executive, in honor of whom and to extol whose greatness, and condemn his assassin, the ladies and gentlemen of Paris filled to overflowing - the Court House last night. I was one of the 12 appointed by the Chairman Barton to draft Resolutions condemnatory of the Anarchists &c.
After the meeting, I strolled around to the Opera House where a Moving Picture Show was in progress - but I did not enjoy it - because you was not with me I suppose -

Un-signed.

Notes: This letter was written by S. J. Routon. Our contributor is the granddaughter of S. J. Routon.

The assassinated “Chief Executive” would be William McKinnley.
