ALLISON, MATTHEW Matthew "Matt" Allison, 81, of 21318 Benhams Road, Bristol, VA, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home. He was a native of Saltville and had lived in the Bristol area for the past 41 years. He was a retired employee of TVA and attended Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he had received numerous decorations and citations, World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also a life member of the DAV Chapter 40. Survivors include his wife, Betty Blaylock Allison; a son, Jeff Allison of Bristol Virginia; three sisters, Nancy Ledbetter, Sally Cardwell and Kansas Marshall, all of Saltville; a brother, Jim Allison; and several nieces and nephews. ANDRESEN, JOHN IRGEN John Irgen Andresen II, 55, of 203 Cloverdale Place, Bristol, TN, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Pompton Plains, NJ, and moved to Bristol in 1972. He attended Virginia Tech and was President of American Steel & Iron. Mr. Andresen was a former member of the Wise Jaycees and was a member of the Architectural Hardware Institute. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Columba's Episcopal Church, where he had served as senior and junior warden. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Andresen; a daughter, Sara Carlson of Bristol TN; a son, John I. BOUCHILLON, CECIL LAMOND Cecil Lamond Bouchillon, 85, of Bristol Tennessee, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, in Wellmont Hospice House. He was a native of Greenville, SC, and a resident of Sullivan County since 1958. He retired from Raytheon Company of Bristol, and was a member of the Ruritan Club where he held the office of president. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Blountville, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. Survivors include his wife, Annie Griffin Bouchillon; three sons, Jerry L. Bouchillon of Kingsport, Samuel K. Bouchillon and Gregory G. Bouchillon, both of Nashville; two daughters, Joan B. Holt of Blountville, and Peggy B. BROWDER, JOHN "J. W. " John "J.W." Browder, 71, of Bristol Tennessee, died Friday, March 19, 1999, in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and retired from the Raytheon Company with 15 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the HHT Foundation International, Inc. CANADA, ROBERT EWING Robert Ewing Canada, 78, of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, in Smyrna, Ga. He attended Columbia Business School in Nashville. Mr. Canada was a vice-president with Wright & Lopez Contractors and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors include two sons, Bob Canada of Smyrna, and Steven Canada of Johnson City. Graveside services will be held Monday in Nashville. CANTER, ROBERT L. Robert L. Canter, of 516 Wyandotte Road, Bristol VA, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Bristol, and a graduate of Virginia High School Class of 1945 and Roanoke Business College. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, a Mason with the Shelby Lodge and a Shriner of the Kazim Temple in Roanoke. Mr. Canter retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation with 39 years of service, and was a member of the Men's Fellowship Class and First Baptist Church. DICKEY, ERNEST H. Jr. Ernest H. Dickey Jr., 73, of Bristol Virginia, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a graduate of Virginia High School and East Tennessee State University. He was the former owner of Dickey Insurance Agency. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and was a holder of the Silver Beaver Award and the Good Shepherd Award. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was a native of Sullivan County and the son of the late Doss and Minnie Bowman Lingerfelt. He as a retired carpenter and was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
