HomeCemeteriesCrawford Cemetery

This cemetery is behind the church at 7659 Lone Star Road in the Blair’s Gap area of Sullivan County.  A church member indicated that some call this the Crawford Cemetery. The cemetery contains only a few marked graves and nearly 50 graves marked with only fieldstones.  It was impossible to get an accurate count.  It was mowed and well- cared for.

Photographed and transcribed on July 29, 2004 by Gary Sawyer and Donna Briggs, members of the Cemetery Survey Team of Northeast Tennessee.

  1. I am trying to find my grandfather. William Elbert Newcomb b: 1845 passed sometime after 1920. He is suppose to be buried in Johnson Cemetery, Sullivan County, Tn. I have been to Tn. twice and cannot find a trace of his death.
I thought maybe you had information on Johnson Cemetery.
    Thank You

  2. Annie Crawford, 20 Mar 1820 – 20 Sep 1898, is actually Ann Dalton Crawford, one of my great great grandmothers. I would like to see a photograph of her grave marker, because I have the year of her death as 1893 vice 1898.

Ann Crawford, a daughter of John and Ann Dalton Crawford, was my great grandmother and the wife of Emanuel Crawford. Both are believed to be interred at the Bowser Cemetery.

Ann Crawford, 4 Aug 1830 – 2 Mar 1901, was the daughter of John and Martha Annie Walker Crawford. It is believed she was first married to William Matison Bowser, and they had a son, William Edward Bowser. That would make Isaac Libby Clark her 2nd husband.
