Downtown Pleasant Shade - ca. 1920
This picture was made of Pleasant Shade about 1920. The view is from "Scab Town" on Toetown Road
looking east across Peyton's Creek to Pleasant Shade and then up the Sloan Branch. Calvin Gregory
made this picture from his residence. The old hotel (now gone) is the tallest building in the picture
and Pleasant Shade School is the two-story building just to the left and across Hwy 80 from the hotel.
Sloan Bros. store is the next white two-story building with the square facade.
