George and Mary Matilda Ligon Manning

This picture was taken on their farm on Ballenger Rd in front of the spring house
and across the road from where my grandparents, James Thomas Clark and Susan
Evelyn Fisher Clark lived. I date the picture as sometime around 1915.

George Manning was born in Wilson Co., TN on December 11, 1855 to Wilson
H. Manning and Ellen Blackwell Sory. George's first wife was Sarah E. Stewart.

This was the second marriage for Mary Matilda Ligon. She was born on Bluff
Creek on May 3, 1850 to Thomas Prowell Ligon and Drucilla J. Sampson Ligon.
Her first marriage was to William T. Tyree, son of David Andrew Tyree and
Catherine Patience Stallings Tyree.

Mary Matilda Ligon had a son by her first marriage to William, named
William who was born in 1878. He died about 1888.

Auant Mary Manning, as she was known on Hogan's Creek passed away January 19,
1932 and was buried with her first husband and child in the Thomas Prowell Ligon
Cemetery on Bluff Creek.

George Manning passed away Nov. 22, 1928 in Smith Co., but I don't know where he was buried.
