Benson Driver was the son of William Driver & Catherine Rebecca Butler Driver
(AKA Rebecca Driver) of the old Driver Farm near Jenkins Hill Road, 2-1/2 miles
south of Hickman, not far from the DeKalb county border to the south. William
Driver was the son of Laban Driver and wife Didama Tubbs or Tubb Driver all of
whom are listed in the 1860 Smith County New Middleton census. The DeKalb county
1880 Dist. 17 household census lists B.B. Driver and his own family on page 232B.
Benson (B.B.) and family left TN about 1890 for the Texas land rush with his brother
Daniel Driver and wife Centhia Wauford Driver who are also listed in the DeKalb 1880
Dist. 17 census. Their younger brother, J.T. Driver, remained on the Driver family
farm and is buried there with wife Mary Driver.
The Driver roots go back to Smithfield VA in the 1650's immigrants
and to SW England-- parish of Avening.
