Allen and Mary Barker Craighead
Middleton Craighead being his first wife. Allen was supposedly born in Smith County
ca 1828. But no one seems to be able to find out to whom he was born. There has always
been much speculation on who his parents were but no documentation of any sort. I
have never found him in Smith county. However any census data before 1850 only lists
heads of households Allen Craighead appears in Independence Co., Arkansas with Revenny's
brother's family where he is 22 years old. His state of birth on this census is Tenn.
By 1880 Allen had married Mary Barker and moved to Shoal Creek, Logan Co, Arkansas
and had changed his name to Creghead.
