Thomas Allen and Elizabeth Frances Piper Cothern

Thomas (Tom) Cothern was born October 1, 1852 and died February 23, 1900. He was the son of James
Carroll Cothern and Polly (Mary) Fitzallen Mason. Elizabeth Frances (Fannie) Piper was born,
according to her bible (which is in the possession of Helen Cothern Graybill), on September 28,
1854 and died May 30, 1898. She was the daughter of Brice H. Piper and Celia A. Oldham. Thomas
and Frances were married on January 24, 1874. Thomas and Frances Cothern had the following children:
William F. Cothern b. Feb. 20, 1875 m. Elizabeth (Bettie) M. Angell
Charlie D. Cothern b. Aug. 27, 1876 m. Alma M. Angell (sister of Bettie)
Howard K. Cothern b. Aug. 29, 1878 m. Tommie L. Smith
John Adams Cothern b. May 18, 1880 m. Elizabeth (Bettie) Huella Boston
Carrie Dossie Cothern b. April 21, 1882 m. Herman Bennett
Eliza Edna Cothern b. Oct. 14, 1885 m. James Henry Bradley
George Allen Cothern b. April 8, 1888 m. Hettie Creola Angell (my grandparents).
Hettie was first cousin to Bettie and Alma Angell
Nancy Ollie Cothern b. March 24, 1890 m. Henry B. Hawks
Lucy Gertrude Cothern b. March 27, 1892 m. Sam E. Taylor
William F. Cothern was in the grocery business for several years in Carthage:
