Herman and Ida Sullins Apple

Ida Sullins Apple 1882-1914, buried McDonald Cemetery off Austin Lane Chestnut Mound,
Tennessee Ida Sullins daughter of Horace R. Sullins and Mary Catherine Denney

Herman and Ida were married November 22, 1903 in Smith County, Tennessee. They
had four daughters, Myrtle Ruby Apple born 1904, Sarah Eula Apple born 1906,
Lillie Ethel Apple born 1909, and Mary Mariah Apple born 1911.Ida died of
tuberculosis in 1914 and Herman promised her that he would stay with her
parents so they could help him care for their four small daughters and that
he would never remarry. He kept that promise and never remarried.

Herman and his daughters and wife's parents all left from Chestnut Mound in 1919 on
a train to come to Texas. They came to Hereford, Texas where they already had family
living. Herman got a job with the railroad and lived in Hereford for a few years. Horace
and Mary Denney Sullins went and bought land in New Mexico to farm. They built a log
cabin and lived there a few years, but they did not like it there and came back to Chestnut
Mound where they both died and are buried in the New Macedonia Cemetery.

Herman Mack Apple (born 11-27-1879 died 05/16/1931) is the three girls father;
their mother is Ida Sullins. His parents were William Sampson Apple(1841-1901)
and Mariah King McDonald(1845-1909).
