Matthews-Overstreet Cemetery
The Matthews-Overstreet Cemetery is located in the Green Hollow in McClure's Bend. Turn
left at box # 97-continue for 200 yards and the cemetery is across the ditch and above the
pond. There are approximately 30 graves marked by field stones under a large tree.
On Feb 17, 2002, a tombstone was placed in memory of John Dixon Matthews 1849-1897, (S/O
Claiborne Matthews & Sara Phillips), and wife Mary C. Robinson 1854-1888, (D/O Burrell
Robinson & Matilda Paralee Cardwell), by their ggranddaughter Retta Matthews Waggoner.
Also listed were the names of his other two wives- Nannie Davis and Mary Ingram.
