Martin, Royster, Bridgewater Cemetery
The Martin, Royster, Bridgewater Cemetery is located north of Dixon Springs on the Garrett farm at
#190 Young Branch Road. The cemetery is on the hill behind the house about 300 yards. The cemetery
appears to be in four sections. The first section contains many fieldstones and the marker for Peter
Turney, Revolutionary War Soldier, the original owner of the farm. A rock wall once enclosed this
section which is destroyed. The next section enclosed by iron fence is the Roysters. Next adjoining
section enclosed by iron fence is the Bridgewater family. The next section is the only known
mausoleum from this time period in Smith County and contains the Young family. The mausoleum was
built in 1881 and is said to have steps going down into a hollow chamber.
