Fort Blount Ferry Cemetery
The Fort Blount Ferry Cemetery is located at the end of Smith Bend Lane
in Jackson County near the site of the pioneer fort and ferry. Buried here
is Capt. Sampson Williams who was present at the first county court meeting
of Smith County in 1799, where he was elected clerk. In 1800 the court
met at his home as this area was part of Smith County until 1801.
