The story of this family can be found in the History of Smith County
Tennessee starting on page 337. William Riley Allen was a Confederate
soldier serving in Second Tennessee Calvary under command of Nathan B.
Forrest. Some of the artifacts he carried in the civil war are on
display in the Smith County Heritage Museum.
