Alexandria East View Cemetery
The Alexandria East View Cemetery is located in Alexandria, Tn. two blocks from the town square. It is
on top of the hill next to the water tank at the end of Cemetery Street. It is in Dekalb County one half
mile from the Smith County line. Many of the early settlers of Smith County who lived in this area are
buried here. This was a part of Smith County prior to 1838. Several Civil War soldiers are buried here
including Gen. W. B. Stokes who commanded the Union soldiers stationed in Carthage. Prominent
Confederate soldiers buried here are Col. John F. Goodner - 7th Tenn. Inf. and Capt.J. D. Wheeler.
