         Know all by these presents that Mr. W.F. Shannon and wife Lealan Shannon of Robertson County, Tennessee for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand Eight hundred dollars to be paid by A.W. Wilson of the same residence as follows:
         The said A.W. Wilson has this day executed to the said W.F. Shannon his eight promissory notes 1st Note due Jan 1st 1892 for one hundred ($100.00) Dollars, 2nd due April 1st 1892 for two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) each falling due respectfully 1st April 1893, 2nd April 1st 1894, 3rd April 1st 1895, 4th April 1st 1896, 5th April 1st 1897, 6th and last April 1st 1898.
         Said eight notes bearing 6% interest from Jan 1st 1892, and are given for the purchase money for a tract of land herein after described. I W.F. Shannon and wife Lealan Shannon, here bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey into A.H. Wilson, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract of land in Robertson County, Tenn. District No. 10 and as follows, to wit: Beginning on the South Side of Beaver dam Creek; on a sycamore tree, Mary Crockett’s corner, in D.L. Durrett’s line, running South 2 1/6 W 73 poles to a walnut tree Mary Crockett’s corner; Thence W 42 72/100 poles to a stone Mary Crocket’s corner, thence S 1 1/6 W 120 1/3 poles to a red oak Mary Crockett’s and S. Wilson’s corner, thence S 2 W 22 4/5 poles to a Stake W.B. Savage’s corner in S. Wilson’s line, thence S 87 ½ E 129 poles to a stone, J.A. Cooks corner, in W.B. Savages line, thence N 83 poles to a stone J.A. Cooks corner, thence E 4 poles to a stone J.A. Cooks corner, thence N 87 poles to a hornbeam on South side of Beaver dam Creek, J.A. Cook’s corner, thence down the Creek with its various meanders to the beginning; containing one hundred and fifty acres, more or less.
         A lien is hereby retained to secure the payment of said eight notes; and if said A.H. Wilson should at any time fail or refuse to pay said Notes, or interest or any part of said note or interest, said W.F. Shannon is hereby authorized to take charge of said land and sell the same at public auction to the highest bidder after advertising the same for sale, four weeks in one of the weekly papers published in Springfield, Tenn. To be sold on the terms so as to meet the payment of the said notes then remaining unpaid, with interest and all cost, said W.F. Shannon is hereby authorized in case of said sale to first pay all cost from sale of said land; secondly, the Notes with the interest on same; the remainder of proceeds of said sale to be paid to said A.H. Wilson or his representatives; To have and to hold the said tract of land to the said A.H. Wilson, his heirs and assigns forever; and we W.F. Shannon and Lealan Shannon do covenant with the said A.W. Wilson, that we being lawfully seized and possessed of said land, in fee-simple, have a good right to convey it and the same is unencumbered. And we do further covenant and bind ourselves, and heirs, and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land, to said A.W. Wilson, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims, of all persons whomsoever. Said W.F. Shannon hereby retains the right and title of one quarter of an acre of said land; including the family grave yard.

State of Tennessee Robertson County.
         Personally appeared before me John Hutcheson Deputy Clerk of the County Court of said county, the afore named W.F. Shannon and wife Lealan Shannon, the bargainers, with whom I am personally acquainted, and acknowledged the foregoing deed, to be their act and deed, for the purposes therein contained. And Lealan Shannon, wife of the said Wm Shannon, having appeared before me privately and apart from her husband the said Lealan Shannon, acknowledged the execution of said deed to have been done by her freely, voluntarily, and understandingly, without compulsion or constraint from her said husband, and for the purposes therein expressed.
