Samuel Gilbert from Webster Gilbert, 3rd of Nov’r
         Webster Gilbert have this day bargain and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Samuel Gilbert and his heirs for ever for the consideration of nine hundred dollars to me paid a tract of land in the State of Tennessee Robertson County ... (?) ... No. 11. Containing by estimation two hundred and Ninety eight acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, beginning four poles south of the branch on two white oaks thence East two hundred and twenty poles to two black oaks thence North one hundred and fifty Eight poles to two hickurs [sic hickories] thence west two hundred and fifty five poles to a stake Gregory Emsson’s Corner thence South eighteen poles to the said Emsson south East corner thence west fifteen poles to a stake in the branch thence south west with the meanders of the branch Eighty poles to John Gilberts corner a walnut thence west thirteen poles to a stake thence south seventy eight poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the same to the said Samuel Gilbert his heirs I assigns I do covenant with the said Samuel Gilbert that I am lawfully ...(?)... of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs & Representatives to warrant and for ever defend the title to the said land and every part there of to the said Samuel Gilbert his heirs & assigns against the lawful Claims of all persons what ever this the 30th day of Oct’r 1840.
