         I Sylvia Moore of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee do make and publish this as my last will and Testament _______ and _______ (to wit)
         1st I direct my funeral expenses and all my just debts to be paid by my Executors out of my money which I may _______ possessed, or which shall final come to this hands Executor
         2nd I give and bequeath to my two sons Amos & John Calvin also to my daughters, Martha, Louisa and Lydia each a bedstead and furniture; and a cow and calf each, the b___ as I have already assigned or designated to each
         3rd I give and bequeath also to my sons Amos and John Calvin also mentioned all the lands of which I may _______ _______ and possessed being two tracts, and containing in all some six or seven hundred acres – more or less to be equally divided between them according to quality and quantity but so as to give John Calvin his portion out of the tract I now live on, and also, as to assign to him the dwelling house and/out? houses & now occupied by myself. I also give to John Calvin two negros, Isaac a boy about ten or twelve years old, and Sarah about three or four years old I also give to John Calvin the Sum of two hundred dollars, to be applied Specally and Expressly? if necessary to his better education in like the way of board clothings tuition books & I also give him John Calvin the further Sum of eighty dollars in lieu of a horse Saddle and bridle, and with which amount his Guardian may (at a Suitable time being when my son shall have arrived at a suitable age) purchase this for his use
         4 I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha one bay horse named bill now in my possession also the saddle And bridle Claimed by her
         5 I give and bequeath to my daughter Louisa a same mare now in my possession called blaze also the saddle and bridle claimed by her, also my negro woman Some eighteen or twenty or _______ years old
         6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Lydia my negro girl named Selia about five years old also the sum of eighty dollars in cash in lieu of a horse Saddle and bridle and with Which Sum at a proper time and suitable age her Guardian may purchase for her a horse saddle and bridle I also give her the further sum of two hundred dollars for the completion of her education as I have _______ in relation to John Calvin that is to be applied of necessary for board Clothing, books tuition
         7 It is my will and desire that five of my negros (to Wit) Hal, Patty, Pussy/Prissy(?), Mary and Ben be sold at my death by my Executors (either for cash or in the usual credit) as they may think best and the proceeds of said sale to be equally divided between my Children Louisa (should be Lucinda) Porter, Alfred Moore, Susan Pope, Franklin Moore, Malinda Travis, Permelia Barbee, Harriet Woodard, Lucinda Yates, Amos, Martha, Louisa Lydia and John Calvin Moore with the restrictions and Limitations herein after Mentioned
         8 It is my will and desire that the balance of my negroes (Nig, Jack, Simon, Nancy, T______ and Jacob be hired out until my son John Calvin arrives at lawful age (unless he sooner dies) and the proceeds of their hire be equally divided between my sons, Alfred, Franklin, Amos + John Calvin and my daughters Martha, Louisa and Sy_____ that is, that cash of my said sons and daughters last named, have as a good share thereof, and then that said last mentioned negroes and their increase, if any, be sold at public sale and the proceeds of Said Sale (as well as all _______, notes, accounts and debts _______ me after first paying the money legacies already devised out of any money on hand or ever once being my estate and which shall first come into the hands of my Executors to be equally divided between all my children as mentioned under Seventh Section of this my last will and Testament with the restrictions herein after mentioned
         9th I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Mary James? Moore five dollars to be paid her by my Executor
         10th It is my will and desire that all the residue of my property not otherwise mentioned be sold and the proceeds divided amongst all my children before mentioned with the restrictions following, that is to say the portions given to my married daughters Lucinda wife of Benjamin Porter, Susan wife of Wm W Pope, Permelia wife of Austin Barbee, Melinda, wife of Coleman Travis, Harriet wife of Elbert Woodard, Amanda, wife of Thomas Yates, are given to each of them _______ _______ of their said Husbands, for their own Separate use _______ _______ and Support during their natural lives, at no time to be subject to the Contract of their husbands of either, and at the death of either of my said daughters to be equally divided among the lawfully begotten children of Such and the _______ given to my Single daughter aforesaid is also given in the same manner to them during life and to their lawful heirs afterwards
         11th I nominate and appoint my sons Alfred and Franklin Moore Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and declaring null and void said and all and every former will or wills by me Made
         In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14 day of May 1847

Robertson County court July Term 1847
         A paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of Sylvia Moore dec'd was in open court for probate and thereupon came Tyler Edwards and Joel Moore subscribing witnesses to the said paper writing who being first sworn depose did say that they were acquainted with Sylvia Moore the Testatrix in her life time and that the acknowledged in their presence. Said paper writing to be her last will and Testament and that she was at the time in her proper mind the court therefore ordered said paper writing to be recorded

Sylvia Moore Letter of Estate
State of Tennessee Robertson County Court July Term 1847
         To Alfred Moore and Franklin Moore citizens of Robertson County, It Appearing to the Court that Sylvia Moore has died leaving a written will in which you are Appointed Executors which has been duly proven in open court and you having given bond and qualified according to law and it having been named by the court that letters testamentary issue to you. These are therefore to authorize and empower the said Alfred Moore to enter _______ Execution of said will and to take into your possession all the property and to make to the next court a perfect inventory thereof and make due collection of all debts, and after paying all the just/past(?) demands against the Testatrix and Selling of the business of Said Estate according to _______ you _______ pay _______ and deliver the property and effects that may remain in your hands and do all other things that may be requested according to the provisions of the said will and the laws of the land
