         In the name of God, Amen, I William Griffin of the state of Tennessee and county of Robertson being of sound mind and faithful memory do this thirty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
         That is to say in the first place I wish all my just debts be paid according to contract and in the second place I leave to my beloved wife so long as she lives those Negroes and half the household furniture .............. of my mares together with as much of everything that I am now possessed of or Bartly Pitts, James Gambill upon their oaths shall think she might need in her present situation together with the tract of land I now live on.
         And at her death I will my sons Rueben and Larkin to have the land equally divided between them. I also will to Reuben and Larkin a part of the other property just what James Gambill and Bartley Pitts may think to lot off to them.
         I will to my youngest Peggy before there is a full division one hundred dollars.
         I also will to my sons Richard and Ira Griffin twenty dollars each.
         I will all the rest of the property that is not ...... to be sold and the money divided equally without distinction among my daughters, that is to say all the parishable property together with the Negroes.
         I also appoint my loving wife and Ira Griffin Executors of this my will and testament.
         I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date above written.

Robertson County Court- August term, 1819.
         The last will and testament of William Griffin was duly sworn in open court by the oath of James Gambill, Bartley Pitts subscribing and on motion ordered to be registered.

William Griffin's estate division:
         Pursuant to an order of the worshipful county court of Robertson, November ten the directed executors have this day divided the estate of William Griffin now in the hand of Ira Griffin executor of said deceased as follows, viz: We find in the hands of the executor after all the precific legacies being paid the sum of $266.63 which is divided between eight legatees namely: Polly Jones, Nancy Warnick, Lucy Warnick, Sally Hirch, Patsy McLinden, Ivy Yeates, Elizabeth McCasily, and Margaret Griffin.
