In the name of God, Amen
         I John Chowning of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee, being in sound mind, and memory but in feeble and delicate health do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and revoking all former Will or Wills by me made.
         Item 1st, It is my wish and desire that my Funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid, out of my effects.
         Item 2nd, It is my wish and desire that my beloved wife Mary Jane Chowning & my daughter Cora Jane have two beds, bedsteads and furniture, one press, one sugar, chest, one folding table, one dressing table, one cooking stove, and vessel, together with all the household, and kitchen furniture, including one cotton wheel.
         Item 3rd, I also Will and bequeath, to my said beloved wife, and daughter, one roan horse, one mans saddle, tow cows, and calves, six head of hogs, one two horse waggon and harness, one buggy & harness, the wool & cotton on hand with all the farming utensils, with my carpenter tools.
         Item 4th, And lastly, It is my request that my nephew, Thomas Chowning be appointed my administrator.
         In testimony of all which, I the said John Chowning have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this second, day of July, in the year of our Lord, one thousand Eight hundred and sixty-five, and acknowledged in presence of the subscribing witnesses and signed in our presence.

         The foregoing Last Will and Testament of John Chowning , dec'd, was presented to the court for probate, and duly sworn to, by Jeremiah Cook and John Bell subscribing witness thereto. The court therefore declares it to be the Last Will and Testament of John Chowning dec'd, and ordered it to be recorded.
